An opening of this route on 4 July now seems extremely unlikely, given the state of the low-level platforms at Canning Town. Can't imagine why they have needed to lift the paving slabs yet again!

Every time we go through the Canning Town station more and more of the "new" platform has been excavated. By last night it seemed the whole thing from end to end was pulled up with fences put in round all the work.

Work is going on this weekend as well. If they're going to pull a Monday opening out of their rear, they'd better get the syrup of figs out.

There was no evidence of any work having happened on the platform since Thursday evening when I passed through today, other than the road-railer having been moved. Certainly there was nobody in evidence, either doing work or sitting in a chair reading the paper at the top of the stairs to the east end footbridge (which is the normal level of activity I see). Even if the line opens on Monday, there is no way that Canning Town low level will open for passengers as far as I can tell.

Why would it open on Monday? The DLR have stated that August is the current expected opening date.
I've noticed that there is a couple of complete network shutdowns over the next two Sunday mornings. I wonder if this has something to do with the extension? Perhaps upgrades needed to integrate the extension into the Control Centre?

Why would it open on Monday? The DLR have stated that August is the current expected opening date. No reason other than the initiator of this thread suggested that 4 July had been announced. Where has August been suggested? Publicity in June after the Boris Inaugural Journey was all about "opening to fare paying passengers next month" - ie July. I would have thought that all modifications needed to incorporate the extension into the control centre would have been completed long ago. It was announced that testing had been completed (which presumably includes such things) many months back!

VCC4 is already up and running to control the extension.
Software testing is the reason for the Sunday morning shutdowns.

So today is the 4th July, I'm not able to see if the service is running and if I'm honest I don't believe it is but if someone is passing through the area please do let us know.

Well passed thru Stratford this morning and no sign of service and temporary barriers still on platforms.

There were men walking along the track this afternoon, so it looks unlikely that today was the opening day

It will be beyond July, I'm certain.

D Stock CIS (DVA) are now being altered to say: "this is West Ham, change here for the Jubilee Line, the DLR and National Rail services."

Isn't September when "Westfield" opens at Stratford, along with the new northern ticket hall?

Indeed it is, 13th September to be exact.

Why not say the opening will be in November 2016, and then if by some miracle they manage to get it ready before that date, then they can show off that they opened it early?
Isn't that usually TfL's style?

Went past the DLR extension today on the Jubilee line and it is still not open. D Stock CIS (DVA) are now being altered to say: "this is West Ham, change here for the Jubilee Line, the DLR and National Rail services." On the contrary, the Jubilee line is yet to update its CIS!

What on earth can his function be? It's obviously not to count the number of trains running on the new extension

That link changes with the date so I'll share this link, you can find the departure boards on the right hand side: www.tfl.gov.uk/modalpages/2632.aspxWhy is it that they have added the new platforms at Canning Town and Stratford but have not yet added Star Lane, Abbey Road, Stratford High Street and Stratford International? Also they seem to have made a mess with the Stratford Departure Boards showing Platform 4, Platform 2, Platform 16 & Platform 17 (in that order) since when did DLR share a platform with London Overground? and they also apparently still run into the now disused platform 4.

Emergency exercise now set for Sunday 7th August. Next roster due to commence on 22nd August. Allowing for 2 weeks ghost running after the emergency exercise, Monday 22nd August doesn't seem too unreasonable a date to pencil in for the service to commence.

The point is that the timetable reads "All Saints". The DAISY reads "All Satints"...
