In keeping with the current UK trend for the lowest common mental denominator, eg Facebook, Twitter and numbskull television I fully expect a new Channel 5 reality show "Woolwich Anal" before Christmas so this precursor is no real surprise.........

They can't change it to Woolwich rear. That would make it conceptually even harder to distinguish from Woolwich Dockyard.
New tube map posters with the Stratford Intl extension are up at various stations now, although doesn't seem to be available on the TFL website yet. I guess I should wait for the official August 2011 map thread to vent about their new approach to the disability access blobs.

The one I saw this morning at Leyton had white wheelchair blobs as well as blue wheelchair blobs. Kings X had both for example. Unfortunately I was rushing for a train so didn't have time to see what the difference was. maritimesandwich, you could always start your own thread about the map, you don't need to wait for someone else to do it.  |

What I think is funny is that Stratford International Station has up the Current map. You would've thought that they would've just waited to put the new one in as no-one is going to see it before hand anyway.

The TfL website says trains running, but my aim to photograph the first train was curtailed by sealed off platforms and after finding a member of staff, being told that there are no DLR trains to Stratford International as they are still running tests this morning. |

This morning I arrived at King George V at about 07:45. I'd looked at the DAISY online, and seen a few trains scheduled for Abbey Road. When I got to the station there was one on the indicator for Stratford International. However the indicator didn't bear any relationship to reality. The first train to arrive was empty marked "Not in Service) - it stopped, but the doors weren't opened, and eventually it carried on its merry way. I went to West Ham by the usual route (incl Jubilee from Canning Town, and found that the DLR platforms at WH were still chained off. So it's definitely not open yet  |

Well, the TfL journey planner has finally stopped claiming that you can catch the DLR today, and has updated the timetable for tomorrow.
Suggests the first train will be at 6:34am, which gives me a bit more of a sleep.

The journey planner on TFL's website is still showing the extension running from 6pm tonight.
But according to an employee at Canning Town, there are still some glyches and may not open this week.
To add more confusion to the mess, the builders have taken down their barrier that leads up to the DLR platform at Canning Town. I also saw another employee standing there to stop people from going up there. I can't imagine she'll be doing that all day. So you never know, it might be running today.

Presumably this all calls for a "Good Service" announcement. Yes, just had a look at the DLR website, that is what they are saying.
So the people at TfL headquarters will think everything is wonderful. I wonder if they will therefore be paying the Serco comany for all those train kilometres that the new line was supposed to be having today.

Set my alarm for 4:30 to catch the first Central Line train from South Woodford to Stratford this morning..not worth it from a DLR point of view..the first thing I saw running on the line was a fox!

Serco are paid per passenger (counted by the passenger counting devices at the entrance to platforms). No passengers, no money. Sarcastic moo. |

They've been saying that all day. They are not passenger trains.
I will leave work at 6 (in about 10 minutes) and see if Star Lane is open so I can go my planned route from the Journey Planner on TFL's website.
Somehow I think I'll be walking to Canning town as usual.
