Just a few questions concerning the 48-hour exams. Does a train need to be in a pit road for one of these inspections? Also, roughly how long does a 48-hour exam take?

As far as I'm aware there is no 48hr exam, trips and deadmen are tested every 24hrs which doesn't require a pit road. The basic shed exam is scheduled for evey 14 days, used to be every 7 days, and until the introduction of 38TS it was every 5 days!!!

OK, I'm sure I'd heard of a 48-hour exam, but maybe I'm wrong.
So how long would a 14-day exam take, and can they be done overnight or between peaks to increase train availability?

It depends on the stock and manning levels,on the Bakerloo a 7 car train was a day or nights work for one man.14 daily is done both during the day and at night.
