When out and about lately I got a Piccadilly train at Rayners Lane and noticed that the leading unit was double ended, with the standard three car unit behide. Does anyone know why this is and is there any more double ended 73s out there? ;D

There are 21 double ended units in the 73 stock fleet. They were built to provide a little more flexibility for the fleet in the same way as the district line has double enders.
