Came through today noticed the Engineering works were being carried out... 6/8 workers sat down on a steel trestle table drinking from flasks and scoffing out of a packet!

Believe me mate, for contractors THAT is work!
The most strenuous work they do is pulling their entry permit and paperwork out of their jacket pocket.

Ah, but then most contractors then express surprise that you've actually asked them. I can remember one guy claiming he'd left it in his van and his van was half a mile away. He wasn't too chuffed when I told him the excercise would do him the world of good

Not to mention handing keys to other contractors without staff knowing, and dont get me started on their hygiene standards in the toilet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I once witnessed a large fight between contractors on the track near Gunnersbury one night. I think they were settling some old Eastern European rivalries. Having said that during my time on the H&C there was a good P-Way gang of Albanians. Though the best workers tend to be the Afrikaaners.
