Excuse my ignorance but what is the bank headshunt? What line is it on and what direction etc? Well as this thread is in the DLR section, I thought you may have worked this out! It's just a siding to the west of the platforms to allow trains to reverse.

Doh! Yes sorry. Viewing this on my iPhone so didn't spot that. Was going quickly through recent threads.

[...] It's just a siding to the west of the platforms to allow trains to reverse. Actually, more to the northwest..

which is less geographically incorrect than the westbound description of Beckton departures!

Or even the "westbound" Piccadilly line between Cockfosters and Oakwood.

Met trains leaving Watford are travelling south westwards, whilst those leaving Uxbridge are travelling north eastwards, yet both are travelling in the "same" direction, towards Baker Street

According to the Six Bells Junction site, there are some interesting restrictions on people in the headshunt I think the latter requirement extends to PSAs - not once have I seen a train enter platform 9 with a PSA in the last carriage

I wonder what the rationale for that restriction is?

I'd presume it has something to do with evacuation or rescue during an emergency - moving from one car of a DLR train to another cannot be fun

A simple walk over it is..
It was a 'railtour', so I presume they'd want to keep tabs on everyone who was in there. Don't want to lose passengers when you've knowingly taken them somewhere they normally don't go.

A simple walk over it is.. do the doors double as ramps or something? It was a 'railtour', so I presume they'd want to keep tabs on everyone who was in there. Don't want to lose passengers when you've knowingly taken them somewhere they normally don't go. How does one lose passengers on a train?

I'm very sure at the end there's a small 'footplate' style thing, and with two units coupled it's basically just walking over.
If they are in a different car..ooh, I'll leave that to someone more knowledgeable than me.

I recently re-read this and picked up on something -
Who is accountable if someone is carried over into H&W sidings? The station staff are not supposed to check the train...
