In a previous thread quite a while back I asked if anyone knew where one might be able to get information on the length of platforms on LUL. Well, over christmas I made enquiries, and got a response saying it had been dealt with under the FOI act.
The upshot was I ended up with an email saying to use the Rolling Stock pdf as a guide to platform lengths. This wasn't quite what I was after, as platforms arent always the same length as trains.
Take Highate for example being built to take 9 car trains, or the Vicc platforms being built slightly longer than a 8car 1967ts due to uncertaintities when the (new) ATO system was installed. Conversely some stations on the northern half of the Circle are shorter than an 8 car Met, and SDO is also used at some Northern Line stations. Etc, etc.
So, I sent an email back saying if they had more specific figures, such as lengthes in feet/metres. This is the response I got back.
Dear Mr Traynor
Thank you for your email.
I have spoken to colleagues in our engineering team and we do [sic?] hold any further information regarding platform lengths.
I have asked for specific details as discussed on the telephone and I can confirm that we do not hold this. The rolling stock data sheet that I have already sent you provides the only information we hold.
Please contact me again if you need any help in the future.
Yours sincerely

So, all in all, a bit of a dissapointment really! However, surely that information must be held somewhere. How else would the infraco's know where to reinstall the platform end barriers in exactly the same position after a station refurb? Also, Ive seen a couple of stations where the site plan of the station is on display, including lengths.
Looks like I'll just have to take a tape measure out, or failing that, continue my plan of infiltrating the civils department after I qualify!
As always though, any further information would be most welcome and treated entirely discretely!
