is now open.
It's a big improvement with 2 stair cases on to the platforms. Seems to be less congestion on the platforms. However as Paddington is a big mess right now with all the crossrail works etc. It can be a nightmare to get too.
I will take some photos if I get a chance.
The only problems so far is the amount of people blocking the way to the entrance who are getting other trains is very annoying. And I wish there was an entrance on Bishops Bridge Road as now with Eastbourne Terrace closed you have to walk all the way through Paddington. Or walk up by St Mary's or walk around then cross the canal over this rather wobbly bridge to enter.
It will be great once it's all settled down in a few years.

There's now a pair of gatelines separating FGW and LUL, not previously present

Which confused me on Saturday. I think it also took 70p off when it shouldn't have - entered the FGW bit, exited the FGW bit, entered the LUL bit.

Are you talking about the same thing? An OSI is changing between separate controlled areas - for example between the H&C and District at Paddington. What I thought Alfie and Fahad were talking about was entering a controlled area by one gateline and leaving it by another - for example crossing the Thames via Blackfriars station, or walking from the Paddington Lawn to the H&C station via the FGW platforms - where I think you are charged a Z1 fare.

Will have to try this out tomorrow; last time I used the H&C station it took 10 minutes to get up the stairs! p.s. Does anyone have any photos of the old footbridge that looked as if it once connected to Bishops Bridge Road? Or perhaps of the entrance itself? All I remember is the forlorn stub up by the new road bridge, and the fenced-off stairwells of the footbridge at platform level. Edit: I found this one, but I'd still like to see the entrance as it once was: www.flickr.com/photos/24772733@N05/2507368574/

Actually, I think you're incorrect. We weren't talking about an Out of Station Interchange, but a Same Station Exit, and while one of the former will be made, it is irrelevant as the latter applies and the former will not add to the overall cost of the journey. The information in the link I gave was confirmed by TfL in an FoI request hereAlso, the list of OSIs linked to in your thread is a little out of date see here for a more recent version

When it was last in actual service, I have no idea.

I did fall foul of the new gates at Paddington when travelling to Hayes & Harlington from Farringdon via the H&C platforms with a topped up Oyster card with a 1-4 Travelcard. Had to get it reset on the return trip.

I remember passing under the old Bishops Bridge Road span when it was jacked up to about three times its normal height!
The new paved walkway is uneven and poorly-drained; there were large puddles all over the place when I used the new entrance on Friday. Having said that, it does make getting to the H&C much less of a battle.
