Taken over 50 years before the A-stock hit the tracks this film was made in remarkably good quality. It is truly astonishing to see so many stations as the were over 100 years ago including the closed ones.
I don't know if it has been posted on here before but no doubt if it has there will be the usual flurry to be the first to say so but if you haven't seen this.......

Yes it has been on before but it is still an interesting piece of footage. Especially like the 3 car formation crossing over the Regents Canal heading towards Baker Street lead by the recently rebuilt 1905/6 motor car in compartment form. Both were ex motor cars damaged and rebuilt as a trial for the future Dreadnought coaches.
These cars were built to work on the Harrow-Uxbridge shuttle but seemed to find their way onto their old roles.

Yes it's a wonderful film. I'd also love to be able to see the whole of Baker St. to Brill, excerpts from which appear in the Betjeman Metroland film.

It is my understanding that the 2 platforms (one of which has the 1905 saloon stock train departing from) were actually bay roads and the platform on the left was the only through road to the city. I think. The whole lot was rebuilt in 1913.

intersting - i noted fincenly road station looked different - long before Jubbiee line - its was two platforms before rebuilt?

This film has been on the LTM website for over two years now. I think you need to be careful as downloading or viewing it on youtube may be breaking copyright  |

It can't still be in copyright. Copyright in a film normally expires 50 years after it was first shown in public, unless that first showing was more than 50 years after it was made in which case the copyright expired at that 50th anniversary. (Section 13 of the 1988 Copyright Act). Therefore in this case the copyright expired some time between 1960 (50th anniversary of the film being made) and 2010 (50th anniversary of the last possible date it could have been released whilst still in copyright)
In any case, You Tube will always take something off if a copyright owner objects. (See You Tube's Ts & Cs)

Yes Finchley Road was rebuilt masively for the Bakerloo Line extension but I understand that it was rebuilt into an island sometime before the Bakerloo Line arrived, again I'm happy to be corrected on that!

The station was rebuilt in 1914, four years after that video. The completion of the deep level tube tunnels of the Bakerloo was 1939, so one would think the rebuild of the platforms would have taken place then or the late 30's. |

i certainly saw the stops still in place earlier on this year. am i correct that there are no juice rails through pinner at the time of this film or have i mistaken locations? if so were all watford amershams cheshams steam hauled from baker?

The electric locomotive from Baker Street was changed out for steam at Harrow On The Hill for all to stations to Rickmansworth and beyond at that period in time. |

There were also no Watford trains in 1910 as the branch only opened in 1925!
I think there is a steam loco laying over at Harrow in the video too.

There were no Met services to Watford in 1910 - neither steam nor electric. Eletrification was extended from Harrow to Rickmansworth in 1925, and the Watford branch was opened at the same time.

Wasn't the halt @ Ickenham opened in 1905? I don't notice any stations between Ruislip & Uxbridge. ISTR that Hillingdon opened in 1923.

According to Capital Transport's history of the Met, "halte" was the correct spelling of that era(early years of 20th century).

One further point, am I right in thinking that this bridge is this bridge from the other way? ? That bridge leads down to Ickenham Manor and the fields where we used to do PE at school.
