I've managed to get the same train a couple of times on a Waterloo-Kennington and a couple of times up from Morden. The interior seems to be a lot cleaner and brighter, and looks smarter, but I am not sold on the new seats. I disliked them on the 96ts and still dislike them on the these - I find them to be nowhere near as comfortable as the previous seats, and the longer I sit on one, the more uncomfortable they become. I also agree with previous comments made about the exterior door buttons - while I appreciate it was probably cheaper and easier to blank them off as has been done, they certainly would have looked smarter if they were removed and the hole plated over so it was flush with the door skin. I'm also surprised these were done before the 92ts, but I guess there must have been reasons. (Maybe TFL are saving their money to give the 92ts a really deep refurbishment! :-D )

I thought the 1992 stock had already been done, pre Olympics?

Mmm, I think that was back in 2011, and was more of a refresh than a refurb - ie, a deep clean, new seat covers, etc. Mind you, the cab ends were worked on, and the window frames too, so I guess that could be considered more of a refurb than a simple refresh.

Suspect the 92s are destined for early replacement

*puts moderator hat on* Discussion of other stock should be in the appropriate area of the forum. Let's not let this thread drift too far please!

You know, this is ALL because of TFL handing the Northern line to an Alstom venture. Mhm, the people who LOST the trains have GAINED them back.

Moderator comment: I've moved most of the posts relating to the 92ts refurbishment to a new thread in the Central Line board. You can find it here. Further discussion of the 92ts refurbishment is welcome in the new thread!

The next component, badly delayed, to appear will be the wheelchair backboards.

Had a trip on set 705 (I think, didn't make proper mental note). Anyway, the door open buttons inside have been replaced with a new panel, which has a small door opening/door closing indicator light instead of the button, orange light set in a dark circle, and speaker holes where appropriate. Also the seats have got noticeably softer since the first refurbs, which is good. Seems like there is more padding going in! But still not quite up to the original levels of comfort.

chesham412 - yes I saw these '09ts-style indicators in place yesterday and I think they've done a pretty neat job!

All the refurbished 95ts are now fitted with the new internal door close indicator panels Presently one NL train is being released into service every 5 days after refurbishment, with 3 trains in work, the refurbishment is taking around 14 days to complete, plus final clean before service Currently 44 trains out of 106 have been completed, trains 45,46 and 47 are now in work.

I have to say I wasn't sure about the design at first, but having travelled on them a few times, they do look very smart.

They do look smart. Seats are hard as nails, though. In fact, I wonder if a bed of nails wouldn't make for a more comfortable journey...
