Hi, I've noticed a number of yellow boxes with twin flashing orange lights appearing along the line. The one at Euston has been out of action for a couple of weeks. They straddle one of the TBTC cables, but I can't see any obvious electrical connection. The Euston one was back working again this morning. What are they for, please?

I believe that they are a visual indicator to drivers to tell them that there is, e.g. a temporary speed restriction in place and as a warning to look out for the speed limit sign. Whether these will be needed once that section goes TBTC (within the next week or two, I believe), others will have to say.

It is right in front of a sloping blue 25 sign between the rails. To be honest, with all the dirt and crud in the tunnels, the sign is now no longer readable.

yep that's a temporary speed restriction, 25mph, further up the track will be another set of flashing yellows with a sign showing TT after it for the termination of the restriction

I'm not 100% sure but i imagine they will still use temp speed restrictions like that and get the drivers to drive the section in protected manual where a TSR has become necessary.

When TBTC is introduced, TSRs are applied on the system and automatically appear on the train op's display in PM. Only if the TSR is less than 16kph does it need to be on trackside signage (for trains running in restricted manual).
