Hi,
What is the point of trains terminating at North Greenwich? I understand the history and there is passive provision for an extension. However, I don't understand why there are peak trains terminating early when there is sufficient provision at Stratford.

I would imagine that it would be something to do with keeping most of the trains in the Core area, rather than having an equal number of trains across the line, when the capacity isn't really needed as much as at West Ham, or Canning Town. There might also be operational reasons behind it as well.

There might also be operational reasons behind it as well. which is presumably the same reason not all trains run to Stanmore beyond Wembley Park. Amazed at times tha that section has a service aat all at weekends frankly, given trains run virtually empty from Wembley

The difference is the east end of the line is busy all the way to Stratford - indeed other than when there is a major event at the O2 the loadings don't significantly decrease there, and there plenty of people also travelling from Stratford to the O2 at the same time. There is often a significant exchange of passengers at Canning Town, but trains can be full and standing all the way to Stratford.

And also turning 30 trains an hour at Stratford was thought to be a bit tight.

The North Greenwich starts take the pressure off those Stratfords which are busy with Westfield shoppers and London City Airport travellers.
From a personal observation, the Canning Town to Stratford section is busier than before the shopping centre opened and that was before the Olympics. It'll continue to be busy thanks to the events at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park as seen in the summer.

Yes,all the night turns & dead lates went to Stratford.North Greenwich has the dead earlies and their latest late turn finishes around 23:30.
