I've always wondered and thought I'd post on here, but why does Platform 4 at Kennington (Southbound Bank branch platform) have NO adverts facing the platform (just scrappy remains of adverts from years ago)?
I'd have thought given the sheer number of people who transfer from terminating Charing Cross branch trains and pile onto this platform to wait for a train that this would be prime advertising space? Just seems really odd to me.

Hi and welcome.
I wonder if there's enough terminators at Kennington to make it worthwhile, or if there are, whether there's sufficient of a gap before the next Morden train for people to be bothered with adverts?
I suppose the question is, what's the state of the Northbound platform in comparison? If it is advertising exec's heaven, or at least has some adverts, then maybe the captive audience is the commuter is going to work and not the one returning from it. Maybe adverts are an escape from the reality of work for more than find them preferable to thoughts of going home?
Or maybe they are about to refurbish the walls-I did notice that branch's platform at Bank had wire netting up and a few surprise holes in the wall in May, when I used it. Could just be maintenance, but..........??

Plenty of Kennington terminators. All Charing Cross trains terminate there, except for during the peaks and late evenings.

It is intriguing to find out why they aren't using the opportunity there, because whilst they are rightly fussy about the timbre and tone of adverts, they usually like to give you something to look at.

Maybe it's subliminal advertising? Scruffy wall: "That reminds me,(looking at the wall) must repaint the loo"

The same applies to Seven Sisters platform 4, which is also almost always arrivals-only: I think there is simply little value in putting track-side adverts up at platforms where people don't usually wait for a train, because barely anyone would see it.

Looks like something is finally happening at Kennington - the majority of the wall adjacent to the platform has been stripped back showing netting (maybe someone from TFL actually read my post and took action!).
Strangely I noticed today that the platform at Kennington for southbound trains on the Charing Cross branch DOES have adverts opposite it even though almost no one will ever stand there and wait for a train!

Definite work going on at Kennington (even if it is slow progress). The north end of Platform 4 has been replastered and looks all clean - the sign showing the remaining stops on the line has been taken off and there are no signs of old posters. No advert frames yet. The South end seems to have been cleaned up but is still a little scrappy. Hope they get some advert boards up soon - would be nice to have something to look at when I get off the Charing Cross branch train!

We southbound Charing cross branch passengers may finally get something to look at! The entire platform wall has been cleaned and painted. There's a few blue tiles missing at the North end but assume these will be added in time, and then who knows maybe some adverts to look at finally!

Well the wall is all painted and tiled now across the full length of the platform. Surely they must be putting advert boards up soon? It seems to be taking them forever to tidy the back wall - I fear it will get all dirty again before Exterion get their posters up!
