Hi, just a few questions about tomorrows strike
How big is the RMT on the Northern?
What has LUL done to victimise staff? Is Morden the biggest depot and what is the likely impact of the strike as the TFL website doesn't seem to say very much?
Thanks

Thanks The issue at Morden centres upon one Train Operator who failed a random D&A test, which is something all operational LUL staff consent to as part of their contract of employment, and a percentage of staff are randomly selected for unannounced testing every year, the exact timing of which can occur at any time, with no prior warning. The driver concerned, I believe, happens to be an RMT activist. As for whether there is any reason for this individual to have incorrectly failed the test, I am not sure, therefore it's inappropriate to speculate further. RMT on the Northern is quite prevalent at Morden, but minority at the other 3x depots. I am not sure whether the plan is to run normal service with cancellations, or bring in a special timetable. Either way, expect many or most trains to run, but with potentially longer intervals between trains. The early morning service going north from Morden is most liable to be hit as this is all Morden drivers.

Well the reason reported by Aslef Shrugged and others is that the individual has type 2 diabetes, which it is known (as recognised by LUL) can cause false positive D&A tests. LUL do not seem to have been interested in confirming the results of the initial test, they just sacked him. Drinking on the job would be unacceptable. The issue here is that the RMT do not believe LUL fulfilled their responsibilities to ascertain what happened and where LUL are concerned, it could happen again.

the individual has type 2 diabetes, . LUL do not seem to have been interested in confirming the results of the initial test, they just sacked him. Shouldn't an action for unfair dismissal be the first step? (and disciplinary action against any HR person who didn't follow the proper procedure)

(and disciplinary action against any HR person who didn't follow the proper procedure) Obviously the best course of action is a tribunal, to allow all the facts to be fairly assessed -- and there's certainly recent precedent for LU losing a tribunal case (Bakerloo Line!). My understanding is that a medical review automatically follows should an individual test positive for drugs, but not if positive for alcohol. This aspect could have some bearing on the matter.

Thanks Guys btw any one know what's happened to Aslef Shrugged as he hasn't posted in a while. From here: Generally women don't sexually abuse men and from some of the ridiculous comments posted on this thread I don't think I'm going to cease posting on here again. Enjoy living in the stone age I made it clear at the time that this place was a lesser place by his absence; if you're out there reading this the staff position is "we'd be happy to welcome you back". So, back t' 'Northern.

Looking at the "Where's my tube" app on my phone, the intervals are a bit on the odd side
Bank Southbound at the moment shows intervals as:
Here 1m13 7m13 11m13
Bank Northbound shows:
Here 2m13 10m13 15m13
So the service is a bit on the irregular side at the minute.
Leicester Square shows a similar thing:
Southbound: Here 5m45 16m45 (Edgware Branch) 16m45 (High Barnet Branch)
Northbound: Here 2m45 6m45 7m45

Was that really advertised as a good service? In LU speak, 'Good service' means that the lines are powered up and nothings been derailed.

Was that really advertised as a good service? Well, compared with Middlesbrough-Newcastle via Hartlepool...

I love the Yorkshire Coast line. Anyways getting back on thread, when I went home at 0630, there were slight gaps, but nothing major. TFL would say good service even if there was huge gaps. It's all targets and PR.

I love the Yorkshire Coast line. Middlesborough - Hartlepool - Newcastle is the Durham Coast. Most of the Yorkshire Coast line (Saltburn - Whitby - Scarborough) can now only be done on foot.
