Hi, last evening I was waiting at Stamford Brook westbound and saw an S stock train going east that had a bright blue indicator light showing on the outside of car 3 or 4. It was on the opposite side from the platform as Stamford Brook, though the same side as the platform at the previous station (may have been on the other side too, but of course I couldn't see it). It was on when the train arrived and remained on until it was out of sight. The following train, also S stock, didn't have the blue light.
Can anyone shed any light (pardon the pun) on what the blue light meant?
Thanks Andy

Thanks Andy Where was the light? - high up at cant-rail (over doors) level - low down under solebar If at cant-rail level it would be the deicing indicator light. If below the solebar it would be part of the track recording (ATMS) equipment.

I *think* that would be a unit fitted with de-icing equipment. The light indicates that the equipment was turned on.

Wow, that was quick. Thanks gents, it was at cant rail level, so it'll be the de-icing equipment light. Certainly it was a cold night on the platform at Stamford Brook and I could've done with a bit of de-icing myself!
