Seem to be frequent "signal problems" at Farringdon these days, is it one particular problem repeating itself?
This leads to another problem, on the Met at least. Somehow an automated message that the line is suspended between Baker St and Aldgate is fed to the trains further up the line. Then when the suspension is lifted, this message persists even on trains re-destined for Aldgate, thus giving contradictory information to passengers.

Like most things it's all getting a bit tired and worn out. The problem with some areas and it includes Farringdon and Kings Cross is that it may have one signal failing but depending on the location you may have to go trackside back to a room then back trackside this all takes time for the protection procedures to be implemented.

This type of automated message are broadcast directly from the control centre, it's not the best system in the world and they do (more often than not) forget to update it when the service gets reinstated !

On the northbound northern line platform at Waterloo this evening, the service status message was being broadcast to different ends of the platform at the same time. The first time I head this it wasn't too bad as the messages were sequential with about 5 seconds between the end of the southern end and start of the northern end. The second time though the north end began about 5 words into the south end message meaning it was difficult to understand either of them.
At least the messages were the same though. At Shepherd's Bush Market a few years ago, there were two recorded messages being played that contradicted each other. IIRC there was either a good service or severe delays on the Central line depending which message you believed.
