Does anybody know why the conductor rail ramps at the country end of High Barnet have been painted white?

AIUI white paint on track and track level equipment is to make it more visible in low light conditions for those walking.

IIRC it's also used on sections in direct sunlight that are prone to failure when they get warm.

Indeed - but I can't see conductor rail ramps being so heat-risky. Also, it's an odd place to be walking at the very end of the line - take a detour of a metre or two and you are beyond the tracks. My money's on a royal visit...

My money's on a royal visit... You could be SO right! I remember reading years ago, HM was getting off of the royal train at some run down station for a reason I can't remember. It was known where the carriage would stop, and the fence either side was painted, flunkies stood either side of the red carpet and the outside wall was painted! I think they re-named the station 'SYCOPHANY JUNCTION'

Surely it's because it's the very beginning of the rail (if you're walking in the other direction) and therefore a trip hazard in poor light?
