I was travelling from Hammersmith towards central london on the H+C. Before the train reached Goldhawk Rd, we were told the train would terminate at Edgware Rd and reverse to Bayswater. I thought that I should get off and wait for the next train for two reasons - at Edgware Rd the next train (probably coming from hammersmith) would be already full. Also I don't know which platform the train would go into - p 2 or p3. I may not get the cross-platform interchange. What is the idea of this maneouvre? I'm thinking it is to help out with gaps on the inner rail service??

...the train would terminate at Edgware Rd and reverse to Bayswater. Just for a moment that conjured up an image of a train very slowly backing out of Edgware Road, red lights showing, with the driver leaning out of his window looking back down the train.

It's usually a move to get a train back into its booked path following either a service disruption or defective stock changed over in the yard.

What would be more interesting is the fact that S stock doesn't have opening windows in the drivers cab to enable the train op to look back down the train! lol
