Hi all,
This is my first post on the forum...
I'm going to be starting T/Ops training in the near future and am considering Hammersmith H&C as my nomination for depot. Was wondering if anybody could give me advice on whether this is a good choice. Obviously it's subjective but all opinions would be welcome!
Geographically it's not too bad for me as I'm Mitcham based, Morden is closer but the waiting list is very long and having spoken to T/Ops seems unlikely I'd get that nomination? Earl's Court would be another good option.
Any general thoughts on the depot or on the nomination process in general would be much appreciated.
Many thanks

There are also train crew depots at Brixton and Elephant south of the river. Not sure how long the waiting lists are. Cant be as long as Morden.

If you are external then you don't get to choose your first depot.
Morden has 25 Elephant has 9 Brixton has 31
You've also got Earls Court District which has 10.
Elephant and Earls Court will go down soon due to Night Tube movements coming up (as well as other depots).

Thanks for replies.
im actually from a stations background so it's an internal move. Is it worth nominating a depot with a longer waiting list or is this a bit of a waste of time?
When nominating on the station side, we can look at rosters etc to give an idea of what we're going into - on trains is it pretty similar rosters between the depots or is it just pot luck?
I'm not talking mafia as I understand you generally have to be well established at a depot before this becomes possible.
What should I realistically be thinking about, pretty much just the location of each depot for travelling times?

Have recently moved onto trains as an internal applicant, we were allocated our depots day 1 at Ashfield House and are tied into them for at least 12 months, they do not let you preference but you can swap amongst the class. We were only given our nominations having passed the final rules and procedures test so don't get tied up thinking to much into it!

Thanks for the advice. I'll hold tight and see what I get given then... Yes, you may well get what you want although if you are going into a full time T/Op job, you will be sent where there are vacancies and not a waiting list. So that pretty much excludes the Jubilee, Victoria and Central Lines, the east end of the District & H&C and parts of the Northern. Not much of a waiting list on the Bakerloo or normally Earl's Court, Edgware Road, Acton Town (D). There is also quite a big list of T/Op's with transfers away from the Picc so that will also be a distinct possibility.
