Great footage of Mansion House when it was still in the open, and of a D stock doing a main line shunt at Plaistow. Not to mention the 1938 stock in its final months on the Bakerloo.

Is that crossover movement at Plaistow a rare one - west to east? I assume there was some sort of engineering work going on somewhere for trains from Upminster to be reversing at Plaistow.
Nice film clip - don't think I've ever seen a north to south car sheds move off the n/b at Queens Park before and certainly not in daylight.
I am sure some knowledgeable person here will be able to confirm the headcodes on the BR class 501s - was 81 Euston - Watford and 82 Broad St - Watford? I noticed both but the destination blinds were a tad difficult to read.

That move at Plaistow is no more
It was removed when West Ham sidings was commissioned. It was only used when a service suspension or engineering works took place no planned moves. It was never a rusty rail move as the route was used when a train came out of the bay road

B1, B2, B4 (Broad Street- Richmond) and B9 (Croxley Green) were the main ones - the rest were various short workings. |

Fascinating to see the ex-LMS signalling with 'Automatic Calling On' aspects (for more info on that click here). Proves that half a century before the advent of computerized signalling, achieving a 'moving block' frequency was still possible and yet the New Lines now find themselves at capacity with a newer but ironically more restrictive signalling system. |

The opening shot is clearly of 1960 stock. Did it ever run on the Bakerloo? If not, where was the footage recorded?

Definitely. It's also followed by a 4-car 1962 stock which appears to be arriving from the Fairlop end of the station. Anybody got any ideas why? Could it be the Epping-Ongar shuttle on its way to Woodford before setting off from there to Ongar at around 3.30pm on a weekday? |

Sometimes trains got turned around so it could be it was sent round the loop to get it facing the right way. |

Seeing that unrefurbished D Stock at Plaistow certainly brought back some childhood memories for me. It's been nearly 15 years since I last stood on the platform there although I have passed through on a handful of occasions since.
