Video 125 have released their first drivers eye film dated 1989 on Youtube showing a very different network that includes: - Shepherds Bush rejoicing in it's original name
- A non-existent Wood Lane
- Westbourne Park still served by BR
- Unrebuilt Paddington (Suburban)
- Light boxes at Baker St (MET), all stations to Whitechapel, Cannon St, Gloucester Rd, Hammersmith, all stations to Turnham Green, Acton Town and Ealing BDY
- Unrebuilt/Refurbed stations at Kings X St Pancras, Moorgate, Aldgate E,Whitechapel, Monument, Blackfriars, Westminster, Gloucester Rd and Hammersmith
- The bay road at Liverpool St just taken out of use
- Numerous illuminated speed restriction signs (now a rarity)
And many other parts of the railway that have succumbed to the history books.

It's great to see all the old stuff and what the stations used to look like. I'm pretty sure was on those original D-stock trains when I was a kid. We would have been going from Wimbledon to South Kensington (to go to the museums) but I don't really remember it.

This was the first drivers eye view that I owned and I still have the VHS (and a means to play it!). I remember being a) confused as to why the H&C was being called the Metropolitan (the name change was a little before my time) and b) slightly disappointed that it stopped at Whitechapel and didn't go as far as my native Plaistow.

It may be interesting for current operators to see what was involved in a station stop then on One Person Operated C stock. The operator still has to use the door buttons on the cab back wall which means they have to stand up at each station and move to the relevant side's door controls. Even on the D stock at that time the offside Close button was not provided on the control desk, you had to cross the cab. So OPO mirrors and monitors couldn't be optimised for viewing both from the door control location and from the driving position for final departure.

That was the late 90’s to early 00’s due to SPAD mitigation that the foggers were always on

1993/4ish I thought. Intially the designs were done by Signalling Designers and later on Comms took over the design work.

Very pleased to see that the 1989 Hammersmith & Acton Town stations both had one pleasing feature that remained in 2012/3.
Plenty of pigeons & snack bars to feed them from.

C stock with 'the _ switch' (I can't say the name of the switch without activating the swear filter), and the two schoolkids at Ealing Common wearing the same uniform I was to wear 10 years later. Both now rather different (the school redesigned their uniform and the C stock lost the switch), probably for the best!

I bet those pigeons are/were cheeky fare dodgers? or do they have their tickets or Oyster cards under their wings? The university I go to also has a pigeon. Everyone feels sorry for him because he only has one foot and they're always giving food to him. He often flies in through the doors and has been known to fly around the main buildings.

We spent a few days in Cork a couple of weeks ago & were pleased to see both pigeons & seagulls in Dublin Heuston & pigeons and terns at Cork Kent. Plus a one-footed seagull at Holyhead on the way home, who must've smelt the complementary cabin biscuits in my pocket-quite chuffed with with three custard creams. I believe the Tube pigeons usually go one stop only, rather than systematically cheat TfL. Mind you, maybe they've trained themselves to peck in and out rather than touch.

I went there in March for an anime convention. I hope the seagull didn't eat all your biscuits! Feel free to PM me and tell more more about your Ireland trip. I'd love to know how you get on. I've seen videos of the tube pigeons and they seem to go one stop, maybe to give their wings a rest. How do they manage to peck in and out?
