Another fantastic selection of video clips from the Jubilee line in it's phase one format running to Charing X with extremely rare footage showing trains in active service there with the ill fated 1983 stock looking somewhat prematurely worn. Also catches the early days of the 1996 stock being just a few months old and using their passenger operated door buttons.

The 96ts door buttons were being sold off by the LT Museum shop last month for a tenner, not sure if they still are.
I got one, I just need to rig it up as a doorbell now!

Be warned, they are filthy. Suggest wearing gloves when you open the parcel! And don't do it in your sitting room.

This looks like early 1998. The first 96 stock entered service on Christmas Eve 1997 but I don’t think they started to appear in regular service until the new year.

The other place where footage of the 1983 tube stock has resurfaced is in the video to Paul McCartney's 1986 hit "Press". It shows Macca on 1983 trains and also either 59 or 62 stock - I haven't double checked. It was shown on the re-runs of Top of the Pops 1986 on BBC Four.

People did not know it but they were not born in those days.... no yellow lines near platform edges, human-driven trains that enter station platforms at speed, trains with doors not in a contrasting colour which stands out from the rest of the train's side...
