Do you think the traditional announcements using Celia will be replaced? I know updated files were done a few years back but the execution of these in my opinion is worse , ie longer and more fragmented/unnatural than what was there before (pre-2015). She does live in Southern France now and as I gather is retired(?)...
Personally I am a fan of Sarah Parnell on the S Stock and think those announcements are very well put together, it almost sounds natural. Will she be used on the Northern line too I wonder?
I'm not a great fan of Emma Hignett and think she should stick to what she does best, buses. I don't personally like her on TfL rail/LO. She is the voice of Crossrail however, so I wouldn't eliminate her from the options.
The lady on the Vic line has a clear and direct voice too, again the announcements are well put together...
I wonder if the lady who says 'The train now approaching is to... X... please stand back from the platform edge' is also in the mix? I like her voice too!
kieran844 , It is worth remembering that even the S stock announcements were very jittery when they were first introduced. I think it was at least a year before they were comprehensively knitted together as they are now.
For the NLE, I reckon they will just add the new stations on just as the Jubilee line announcements were updated to announce which side the doors would release.
I believe the platform announcements you are referring to are spoken by Elinor Hamilton who is also the voice behind the automated Customer Service Update announcements amongst many others.
It's not just the voice, it's the person editing the clips so they assemble into a natural flow; not an easy job and sometimes you need two or three clips of the same phrase just so the pauses and pacing sound right.
Granted that some voice actors make this easier than others and that some are just more understandable to the general population.
