As most users probably know, London Overground have a particular style of announcements at their stations, such as "the train now approaching..." Or "the next train to arrive at.....". The lady (Emma?) who does the announcements is heard across the Watford DC,north/west and east London lines and probably goblin.
My questions are related prior to London Overground takeover:
1. On the Watford DC, goblin and North/west London lines, what announcements were previously used? I think the standard national rail ones voiced by Anne were used on the north London line during silverlink. Particularly interested in the system used on the shared bakerloo section of the DC.
2. For the above , when did the overground style announcements come in?
3. The lea valley lines continue to use the standard Anne announcements. Why are these still being used 5 years later and the Emma style overground announcements not used?
Thanks

Funnily enough that you should bring this up. The East London Line core route stations have reverted to the NR style announcements for some reason.

Interesting that you say that, I was under the impression the stations from Dalston Junction to surrey quays never had NR style announcements as they were either built from new for the overground or were part of London Underground.
Which stations in particular are you referring to?

They were originally, but a few months ago, I think they've had a new CIS system installed, and they're currently using NR style announcements with the female voice (don't know the name to be honest). It's all stations from Surrey Quays to Dalston Junction. You can hear it in this clipAlso This one at Whitechapel

I wonder why they have done that and if that will be rolled out across all the overground lines? Would be interesting for the Watford DC On another note, I think the metropolitan line should adopt a similar system! I dont know why LU dont use one like that for the met considering its stopping patterns are more varied than London overground entirely

Would LU want passengers to know that the trains are supposed to come at specific times - rather than 'every x minutes'?
After all, as far as passengers are concerned trains timed to the minute run on the mainline network - not urban metros!

After all, as far as passengers are concerned trains timed to the minute run on the mainline network - not urban metros! The break point for showing actual departure times used to be 10 minutes (and may still be). Certainly on the East London line the different destinations make it sensible to show actual times.

Considering this has as many destinations as the east london line and a more varied stopping pattern. Certainly, from Baker st going north, i think such style announcements would be handy
