Phenomenally long shot here The 4 locos WALTER, LOU, ANN, KITTY were discussed back in this thread : districtdavesforum.co.uk/thread/20990/line-ugrade-work-battery-locosMy questions [1] Does anybody happen to know the battery capacity ?? In that old thread, there is a link www.tractionads.co.uk/html/empty6.html that leads to an image of a works plate close up, and you can read 2 x 75 hp motor and what looks like 192 V, but neither really help with the battery. [2] Anyone know what type battery ? I assume lead acid from that era, but just wondering if they might have been something else - especially if the were Ni-Cd ("nicad" nickel cadmium) - - traction batteries and tool batteries were exempt at that time from the 2006 environmental legislation that banned them for many other uses. If they were nicad they might have been some of the last so powered locos.
