I presume that the driver can see which route is set via the in-cab display? However, how far in advance would this be displayed? For example, on the inner rail at Great Portland Street, would they know which route was selected at Baker Street?

The ultimate destination is always shown as a code, the station at, the route between stations is shown; however the actual platform isn’t. Examples: approaching Barking/Tower Hill would show “x x bay” or “x x sdg” if terminating approaching Earl’s Court wouldn’t show the actual platform approaching Upminster wouldn’t indicate the platform etc These are to be improved as more areas are added.

As far as I can see, Tower Hill centre road doesn't have its own abbreviation for the SID. There are separate indications for the reversing berths on the running lines; THL-EB-REV and THL-WB-REV. Here in engineering I'm not aware of plans to 'improve' this later.

Sub Surface Lines Communications Based Train Control (CBTC) Appendix to the Train Operator Handbook SID Destination and location codes Version 2 April 2021 Ah, I think that means they'll check, complete or add listings to that document as further areas are commissioned and omit the ones assigned for areas de-scoped, that the CTBC could never call up even though programmed into train software. Phew!

Can a District line train on the westbound from Aldgate East be routed into the former bay platform (Number 2 ) under CBTC ? There’s a buffer stop in the way! The move you describe was meant to be possible, but has now been dropped.

The buffer was removed in 2017 when the pointwork at the East end of the station was installed.

The buffer was removed in 2017 [...] (Briefly noting that buffer could also be an older and possibly-overweight man; and you certainly wouldn't want to leave them on the tracks.)
