A friend who works for San Francisco's Muni railway posted a picture of him holding a small dog with the comment-
Some days my job is interesting. Meet “Line Delay”. This naughty boy ran into the Twin Peaks Tunnel at West Portal. I followed him on foot all the way to Forest Hill Station, and caught up with him under the inbound platform. (FH is about a mile from WP)
How often does this sort of thing happen in the greater TfL system? Not often at all on Muni, but then there are only a few tunnels (sigh).

Excellent name.
And I’m sure he’s a good boy really.

These animals really need to get a moove on and stop swanning around, else I'll probably go barking mad!

... I'll probably go barking mad! But only on the District or Overground.

I vaguely recall some delays because of an animal (dog or fox I think) getting in to one of the tunnel portals at Stratford on the Central line few years ago.

That's a quintessentially English failure.

Going back near 50 years I had to retrieve a dead swan from the Met tracks at Moor Park. They weigh a tonne, well Google says up to 12kg! Had to check if ringed for the Queen, as that needs to be reported. More vague memory about a dog loose in the tube tunnels which took most of the the inter-peak day to catch. Reports from passing drivers were followed up by inspection from cab of train of section concerned, but the animal was terrified in unfamiliar territory with noise, arcing, etc and would flee, to reappear elsewhere. It was eventually collared exhausted. Maybe Northern Line, but could have been Victoria Line which was same operating division at the time.

I think the Central Line, out around Roding Valley & Buckhurst Hill, has had an occasional deer on the line, though you're more likely to see them line-side, thank goodness.
The Richmond end of the District, from memory, isn't near to the resident herds around Richmond Park, but someone else may know better, and whether or not any of them have oysters!

Not a cause for delays (as far as I'm aware) but the outer end of the Central line was known for rabbits (LOL - Blake Hall station was reputed as having more of these than human passengers!!!) and scorpions.

Only tangentially TfL-related, but a couple of years ago almost everything through Clapham Junction was stopped on account of a dog that had escaped off down one of the platform ramps.
I'm told in situations of pets on the railway, trains are stopped not for the sake of the animal, but for the potential risk of the human running after their pet onto the live railway.
