Was the sectionalisation of traction current on the Central Line improved in the 90s upgrade?In the 70s & 80s if the earth fault alarm operated in Hainault Depot it could be anywhere between Epping & Bond St.Likewise the alarm in Ruislip Depot covered West Ruislip/Ealing Broadway to Bond St.Also in those days escalators & lifts operated on the traction supply.

Thanks for the info,reminded of the time we had an earth fault recorded at Hainault,spent all afternoon isolating trains & checking for track obstructions,turned out to be a fault on an escalator at Gants Hill!

Also in those days escalators & lifts operated on the traction supply. They still do! Not directly in that turning off a given traction section takes the escalators & lifts with it, but escalators and lifts can certainly cause earth faults on the traction current system.
