So it occurred to me that you can change from any LU line at Liverpool Street with the Northern Line at Moorgate without going through any gateline which of course is the same setup as the Bank - Monument complex so one wonders if the Central Line should start announcing interchange with the Northern Line at Liv St and the same in reverse, that could help relieve more pressure at Bank and the sub-surface lines between the two stations.
At the very least I feel they could at least add signage to the Northern Line at Liverpool Street in all areas and the same in reverse.

It's quicker to walk on the surface between Liverpool Street and Moorgate. It would be very confusing to add the signage at Central line level. (I worked at Liverpool Street for 2 years and did the walk above and below ground many times every day.)

Out of interest, how did you walk underground between moorgate and liv.st before the new works. Was there a staff route between them?

I was working on signage installation for Liverpool Street/Moorgate. It's like a small town down there. Much is not visible to the travelling public. For much of the time this involved walking up and down 18/20 flights of stairs.

I used to walk between Liverpool St years ago, it did not take that long. But this was on the surface.
I did the same journey yesterday, starting from the Elizabeth line platforms. This was wholly in tunnel, and I arrived on the Northern line platform. This was part of exploring, but alas it was around 5pm and I needed to get home so did not get to use the escalators to the subsurface platforms.

The connection is signed from the Elizabeth line platforms but your suggestion was to sign it from the Central line platforms. This adds considerably to the walking distance and time.

Or one could take one of those Circle, H&C or Met line trains on that quaint older railway between Liverpool St and Moorgate.

I work at Holborn Circus, and have had to think about getting to Liverpool Street, which I'd do from Farringdon. I'm not at all sure - yet - of the trade-off between Outer Rail and Elizabeth Line, when also factoring in the deeper level of the Elizabeth.

Maybe TfL should introduce specially reduced walking fares at station pairs (eg: Liverpool - St Moorgate and Barbican - Farringdon and use pink Oystercard readers located in the passageways to validate that the person did indeed walk??
On cold winter days, days with heavy rain and when it is blisteringly hot outdoors some passengers may like the idea of a weather protected walking solution.
I've seen a variant of this done in Hong Kong - using the card reader at a strategic location on the Central - Mid levels walkway awards the user with a discount on a trip on the MTR.

Earl's Court always had return platform tickets for regulars who lunched at the other end of the station.

You can still purchase platform tickets. I did so at Southall in October last year for about 40p I think, but I don't know how to find them on the machines (if they are even available there?) TfL I believe charge £1 for the Underground although I've never attempted to purchase one myself.

IIRC on an LU machine, if you search for tickets to... and then type the station you are at, you are offered a Platform ticket.
[Off Topic]I was given cupcakes for attending the opening day of Maghull North, I'm pretty sure I bought the first ever platform ticket for that station given that the Booking Clerk had to telephone for assistance as to how to issue it.[/off topic]

I walked the link between the Liverpool Street platforms and Moorgate twice yesterday. It would definitely be quicker to exit from the Central line platforms and walk at street level.

I wonder, platform tickets are not valid on trains, but now that one can walk, what would happen if I arrived at Moorgate with a Liverpool St platform ticket?
(or Bank / Monument or Barbican / Farringdon?) Why make such a walking journey underground? Wet weather ... snowy / icy weather etc ... a keen supporter of 'active travel' and wanting to take this to an extreme degree?
