Having spent a fair bit of time on the northern parts of the Piccadilly and Victoria this month, I was wondering if there are any Walthamstow-bound services timetabled to use Platform 4 at Seven Sisters?
I presume through services would only ever use this platform in times of disruption, but as there is a connection from the platform to the northbound running tunnel I guess there must be a couple of rusty rail trips timetabled every month.

I’m not a regular user of the Vic north of KX but, I’m sure there are some AM trains from the depot that would use 4 to head for Walthamstow.

Three early morning trains Mon-Fri from Northumberland Park depot reverse in platform 4 passenger to Walthamstow.

We used platform 4 on the northbound today. I wonder if this was due today's points failure at Seven Sisters.
The train I was on originally terminated at Finsbury Park and then ran empty northbound. There were 2x CSAs at the platform to make for a quick dispatch. We were told the train terminated there due to the late running, but wasn't clear initially why it couldn't have just tipped us off at Seven Sisters and continued to the depot from there. Now I am thinking perhaps the points issue meant the regular NB platform at SS wasn't accessible.

The train was most likely going to be held in the tunnel for a long period, so that's why it would have been terminated at Finsbury Park. It's not un-common for trains to go to Walthamstow via platform 4, as Seven Sisters is a crew changeover point, a train could be stuck on platform 3 awaiting a driver, so a following train could be run around it via platform 4.

Well the following Walthamstow-bound train I boarded was certainly stop, start, stop, start all the way to Seven Sisters, so I am not sure the train ahead would have been held in the tunnel for too long, it would have just been part of the block back of other trains. I don't see anywhere on the track layouts how it could have accessed the depot directly without going via Platform 4.

Platform 4 and Platform 5 are the only 2 platforms connected to the depot. Platform 3 by-passes access to the depot. Platform 4 cannot be used as a bay reverse platform, because it is not connected to the southbound running line. A train has to shunt forward out of platform 4 to reverse out via platform 5 to go south again. Platform 4 is mainly used to terminate northbound trains for the depot or for reversing the staff shuttle trains to/from the depot.
