Abbey Wood becomes TfL owned

After six long years of discussions with Network Rail, we’re now responsible for Abbey Wood.
The station existed for Southeastern and Thameslink customers before our Elizabeth line customers, but went under a significant rebuild in readiness for our services in 2017.
Since then, we’ve been keen to take on the long-term lease from Network Rail as we did with stations on the east section of the line between Maryland and Brentwood back in 2015.

As the landlord, we now have control over building advancements, which means we can adapt the station to improve our customers’ travel experiences should opportunities arise.
We’re also accountable for the station’s maintenance, which will help us improve the station’s lift and escalator performance to better serve customers with reduced mobility.

In theory the escalators and lifts at a recently rebuilt station should not need their performance boosting.

I hope this does not negatively affect the retail facilities - newsagents shop, light refreshment offerings, etc.

Looks like the cash crisis at TfL is over at last.

From barely able to afford vital stock renewals to buying-in new stations. Splendid performance all round!
