I thought it would be appropriate to make a new thread on this - it was mentioned in the SSR Resignalling thread that the Jubilee Line signalling system & on-board signalling system is being updated via software updates. This has me asking a few questions:
• Why is the signalling system being updated? • Will there be any noticeable changes from the passenger point of view once the final update rolls out? • Why are the software updates for 4LM?
Thanks in advance to anyone who knows!

The Jubilee and Metropolitan share tracks into and out of Neasden depot, currently the Jubilee uses TBTC and the Metropolitan manual operation will be upgraded to CBTC. The two systems need to talk to each other in the Wembley/Neasden areas, hence why the Jubilee software needs updating.

The Jubilee has had the usual bug-fixes, changes for a more frequent service with more trains (World Class Capacity Upgrade, since abandoned) and recent changes to get trains out of Neasden depot quicker (in preparation for Met frequency increase after full resignalling).

The Jubilee Line was originally deployed on SelTrac S40 I think.
What version of SelTrac is 4LM? Their current premier product seems to be SelTrac G8 but Google isn't helpful here!
Not a lot of public information on how different the two systems are.

The major differences are in the hardware rather than software. There is some new functionality in the SSR version but that is to be expected as it is a much more complicated railway with differing requirements.
