I still think it stinks big time that Sarah and the 4-TC are not likely to go walkabout on the SSL anytime soon.

It would be nice if the LT Museum take on Sarah Siddons and move it to Acton as there's no point LUL keeping it hidden away in Ruislip depot now steam on the met's gone, at least at Acton it would be on display and might have a chance of working once more.

The caption to the first photo is not entirely correct. In 1959 there were timetabled BR trains daily through East Finchley on the pickup goods train to Edgware (BR). I can remember watching them banging around in the Fin Cen goods yard (where the car park is now: look in Google Earth and you can see traces of the tracks under the bitumen).
Of course, if the caption writer meant to refer to BR passenger trains, the one in the photo was probably the only one for several years.
