Sydney Metro opens into City

New section of Sydney Metro opened this morning taking the driverless network through the city centre:

Sydney's new multi-billion-dollar metro line is up and running with government ministers, city workers and train enthusiasts among those aboard the first service.
Crowds eagerly lined the new station platforms on Monday morning to catch a first glimpse of the service between Chatswood and Sydenham.
Services began running from Sydenham station at 4:54am, but some enthusiasts had arrived as early as 1am.

It is very interesting to see the common design language we are seeing develop across some of the newer metro projects across the world. Whether it's the Elizabeth Line in London, Lines 15-18 in Paris or the Sydney Metro, there are some very familiar design hallmarks emerging, especially in stations. Some of the photos coming from the Australian transport following today are very reminiscent of Crossrail

Some of this inspiration seems familiar in Malaysia and Singapore too. Thomson-East Coast Line Stage 4 extension and MRT Putrajaya Line underground stations
