Track replacement on the Met

Does anyone know when Metronet will begin working on some of the remaining bits of bullhead track on the Met? They've already done most of the four-tracking to Wembley Park, but the four-tracking north of there to Harrow is still mostly bullhead, as well as the entire Harrow area up to Harrow North Junction.

The tracks on all four roads from Wembley Park to Finchley Road are down to Tube Lines, not Metronet.

Track relaying on the Met is due to start in August 2006, when the new Class 66 diesel locomotives are in service with GB Railfreight.

but around chairlock type points it will still be bullhead because they were only designed for bullhead and not compatible with flat bottom

Still quite a bit of bullhead on the Uxbridge branch too.

Stiil, at least the ride is now smooth enough to read your paper between Harrow and Finchley Road!

Would the replacement of the points have to wait for the replacement of the signalling? I couldn't help but notice the electric points going in at Wembley Park (MG).

Except in France where the VCC mechanism (which the chairlock is derived from) has a flat bottom version.

No, you just need to do a mod on the detection circuit for a Chairlock conversion. The drive circuits will stay the same.
