While I was at Edgware Road today, I noticed that C5 and his buddies were reversing trains in a rather unusual manner at the station.
Some of the trains were running into platforms 2 and 3 via the scissors crossovers; others were running into platform 1, and then running out of the station completely; I saw one train run into platform 2 from the east.
Is the trailing crossover being used to reverse trains at Edgware Road?

Is the trailing crossover being used to reverse trains at Edgware Road? Most likely I should think - in any case, it's a signalled manoeuvre, so there's no reason not to.

LU move customers from A to B, they used to do it via 'C'.

Yes, there is a mainline shunt from platform 1.

I wasn't there this weekend, so not guilty your honour ;D .
There is some track/points work going on at Baker, so Circle line trains are "main-line" shunting via OP8 (Outer Rail to pfms 1-3 w/b shunt). Its so that the trains' tripcock can still be tested on the temp. tester on platform one. I noticed on my way home the other day that the inner rail one is at Bayswater.
Its not a common move, as its not one thats worked through with T/Ops in real-life (just on the line DVD). Though when there was a points failure once, we shunted the last trains to there correct location using OP8s

I knew there was a mainline shunt east of Edgware Road (thanks anyway prjb) but up until now I had never seen it used. The advantage of this shunt is that C5's colleagues can put the train in either of the middle platforms - very operationally useful IMO. Too bad there isn't a scissors crossover there too... There is a six car mark or diamond in the 4 foot. As a DMT I have piloted lots of drivers through that move, new guys tend to be a bit nervous as it is an unusual one. The mainline shunt from Baker 5 often worries new guys too, as there are multiple routes from that - take the wrong one and you end up in the Met platforms!
