It still annoys me that after all these years and with all this "transforming the tube" something as basic as the destination light boxes at East Ham and Upton Park continue to describe Hammersmith and City line trains as : FIRST TRAIN
METROPOLITAN LINE via LIVERPOOL STREET & KINGS CROSS Just how many years has that been incorrect ! And just a matter of replacing the insert behind the glass !!!! (not to mention line controllers refering to "Met's" when refering to H&C trains ... "old habbits...." I guess )

Destination boxes & "unimportant" sign-age seem to be the last thing LU change. Look at the many cases of "British Rail" around the Underground for example, and the directions to the Aldwych trains at Holborn took a long time to come down!

At West Ruislip, theres still a sign on the Denham bound platform, that proclaims Network South East!
There was also a sign at Bond Street on the Central Line Platforms, which had the linear map, still showing North Weald, Blake Hall and Ongar! this sign has now been removed.

It still annoys me that after all these years and with all this "transforming the tube" Let's not forget who is now in charge of that "transformation." It is up to them to get the signage sorted out, but given their financial constraints at present, they may deem a sign that "gives the general idea" is better than no sign at all and have left it. (not to mention line controllers refering to "Met's" when refering to H&C trains ... "old habbits...." I guess ) Strangely enough that is pretty widespread. Just easier off the tongue when communicating over the telephone than H&C. Most of the train describer equipment on the east end will show the trains as "MET" rather than "Hammersmith" - because of course there is more than one Hammersmith when heading west. So from an operational point of view, it may be old habits, but at least everyone (we're speaking to) knows what we're talking about.

The linear map on the s/b at Seven Sisters shows no Jubilee line and still shows interchanges with British Railways. I guess it's probably from the line opening.

There are some signs that look like they date from a long while ago at Holland Park - hollow lines, "British Railways" interchange at Bank. I think there is a plate over the Epping-Ongar stretch - there certainly is at Debden.

There are a few Piccadilly line linear maps with the Aldwych branch not completely covered up; I saw one at (I think) Earl's Court during my training. Whether this was an oversight or due to someone removing the sticker covering it, I don't know, although I couldn't see any obvious marks of it previously having been covered.

that is actually imprinted onto the glass and is very hard to get hold off but your right it should of been changed ages ago

there is a sign at rayners lane that still proclaims holborn kingsway and aldwych and the silverlink underground connections map still has charing cross jubilee line

There is/was one at, I think, Wood Green, where the sticker covering Aldwych has faded and someone's written "ghost line" just above it...

Did the boards at Barking ever work?
If so when did they stop working?
The NR departures board also has space for text next to District east and west and H&C .. has that ever worked? (I.e. shown a time for the next train)

A couple of years back the EAst Ham describer glass got smashed and for weeks all you saw was the florescent tubes. When the glass was replaced they were replaced with exactly the same outdated Metropolitan line board.

The other half of the boards showed - DISTRICT LINE CHARING CROSS VICTORIA - the ones on the WB at Barking, which were c.1961 BR(E) in design and displayed the same in light blue Gill Sans on black simply had the bulbs removed from the "Charing Cross" bit rather than replace the whole panel to include "Embankment". It could also show "First Westbound train from Platform 3" though this was rarely seen. I think all the bulbs had blown long before the boards were removed in the late-80s.
