I noticed today that A641 now has a Dangerous Structure notice attached to it, blocking the utility ladder and preventing the AETs from performing maintenance.
Is the gantry going to be torn down and replaced, or will it simply be strengthened?

Is the gantry going to be torn down and replaced, or will it simply be strengthened? Without knowing what the problem is most likely strengthening work. I guess a regulatory notice would be served on the area manager to get the problem sorted asap.

There's a few more structures on the four-tracking between Acton and Hammersmith have "Dangerous Structure" notices - there's one attached to the gantry for A571b, and another for the bridge deck for the eastbound lines.
If the gantry was to be removed in lieu of being strengthened, what would replace it?

this is a big problem at the moment as more and more structures are becoming unsafe the worst one i can think of is WG15 (putney bridge w/b home) where the actual junction indicator is holding on by its bear teeth
its like EC6 and EC11 e/b starters earls court the gantrys they are on have been unsafe now for roughly 3 years and are a perm fixture in the traffic circular they have now got a plan of 3 possible soulations
1 but them at track level (which some equipment already is but not commissioned) 2 having the signals on like a speed camera post what lowers when access is required 3 strengthing the current gantry and making it 100% safe with the right access
we have a list of about 20 signals from earls court - acton (inc down to putney bridge) that our union says we do not go up at all, so these signals have not been maintained for some time now
the only one they have seemed to fix was WG13 (west of putney bridge on the bridge itself) but since then nothing has been done

I can't speak for the maintenance engineers but without knowing what the problems are for each specific case there would be an issue of who should be sorting out what. Things like signal posts, ladders, access platforms would be civil assets but the signal head and equipment is down to signals. In the past signals has commissioned civils to design solutions but these have been rejected on the grounds of cost.
The two signal gantries on Putney Bridge were strengthened last year and this needed a Network Rail possession. Depending on the size of the job the original signal post could be removed and the head temporarily supported by scaffolding with alternative access ladders but this would be subject to track clearance acceptance if the structure had to be replaced over a number of engineering hours shifts.
