Yes, one under on the eastbound Picc, I don't think the station was totally closed at any point, but the Picc was suspended Hammersmith - Hyde Pk Corner for about an hour.

I had a conversation today with a DMT hitching a lift in me cab - and he dealt with the incident in question.
Thanks to the drivers quick reaction, and a very good 73ts, this potential one under was actually a near miss incident - the train actually stopped surprisingly well short of the idiot. Injuries to said idiot were from coming into contact with the juice rails.
I hope Earls Court isn't turning into the Picc's version of the Central's once infamous Mile End, what with the double one under last year.
Hmm......
Christmas is coming........time for the 'silly season' to begin perhaps? As always, my thoughts to those having to deal with such things.

Can people think twice before making comments about people jumping in front of trains. Yes, the effect on the driver, platform staff, and other witnesses is absolutely terrible. However people don't kill themselves just because they feel like it. They may well be severely depressed and/or mentally ill, something which sufferers have little or no control over. When suffering from these conditions, people often don't make rational decisions, think about the effects of their actions on themselves and others.

I regret to say that some of the poor individuals are highly intelligent. Not idiots. They know what they are doing. It's just that they don't or can't see or think things through as to the consequences. For those left behind and those wonderful people who have to deal with the aftermath. Luckily The Samaritans are there and they work! Something I have experienced close-up (not me).

And of course the T.S.G. volunteers are available for those poor drivers who have to suffer the consequences of someone else's actions

Could'nt agree with you more stephenk. As a ex driver who's had the misfortune of a one under and several near misses, which quite honestly frighten the s**t out of you, its a horrible situation to experience and my thoughts are always with the driver, but then a person who is that desperate to end their life probably is not thinking rationally and some sorrow surely must be felt for them by a fellow human being. Maybe its true that person is not thinking of the driver at the time, but that surely does not mean they should all be classed as stupid idiots.

Earls Court Picc has had at least one before to my knowledge. This was around 1965-6. The driver worked on the other shift from me at Northfields. He told me the story himself. As he approached E Ct WB he noticed what he thought was a piece of newspaper blowing about on the track ahead of him. As he went over it, he saw it was actually a white shirt with a man inside it looking up at him. He coshed it but the train ran two or three cars over him. They got him out, from the tunnel with the train still in it, by helping him up between the cars. He was only scratched from climbing up. The driver told me the man's shirt was still cleaner than his!
