Due to tonights suspension north of Wood Green - for the second time in my commuting career had the pleasure of an empty train into service at Russel Square westbound.
Empty apart from a few million discarderd free papers.
So thank you controllers - (wasnt empty for long I assure you)
Where else could they reverse norht of the Cross and south of the incident please?

Nowhere.
Hopefully TfL or Tube Lines will fix that someday.

Is the trailing crossover at Kings Cross a passenger-signalled move or is it a shunt?

It is a passenger-signalled move when reversing north to south, but passengers are rarely carried due to the risk that most of them would yell at LU staff for finding themselves back at Russell Square - LU staff at KX have a hard time clearing the train when it reverses off the northbound platform.

Yes it is, or was recently! This is from my PSUL site www.gmhistorian.btinternet.co.uk/psul.htmKing's Cross St. Pancras
There are two King’s Cross St. Pancras - Heathrow Terminals 1,2,3 services: d. 0657 & 0712 SuO Eastbound Platform via trailing crossover, calling additionally at Turnham Green. Other trains rarely use it although it also affords access to the Northern Line via King's Cross and Euston Loops.
I have traversed both Kings X and Euston Loops on the Northern Line 1959 Stock Tour, and therefore the points leading to the Loop but not the #-over you mentioned, yet! I assume that trains can also shunt WB>EB but not in passenger service?

I'll have to double check, but I dont think those Kings Cross Reversers (like the Down St Rusty Rails) ever run owing to no Service Operator being available.! Also the WB to EB move is to detrain at the WB Picc Platform then main line shunt, re-entering service on the EB platform. The Loop is used more often to reverse Northern Line trains, so long as someone is available to press the slot release button ;D ;D

And someone on the platforms to remind the Northern Line T/Op NOT to pass L22, even if it displays a green aspect!
