Are Bakerloo trains ever stabled on the through lines in the car shed at the Northern end of Queen's Park?
Answers appreciated.

No Seth. Not on the through lines as they may be needed for engineers trains to Stonebridge Park in the night. The two middle sidings are used for stablers though (or used to be)

There used to be a train stabled on the road that leads to the southbound platform as well as the southbound platform itself.

AFAIK, one train does stable on the southbound road. (Well it has recently!)

So what happens if the train(s) stabled on the southbound are non-starters in the morning and can't move?

Trains can leave the sidings and reverse and run south from the northbound platform.

You misunderstood me Jim. If a train is stabled on the southbound through in the north shed overnight and it's a non-mover in the morning what then?

If a train is stabled on the southbound through in the north shed overnight and it's a non-mover in the morning what then? Trains can still leave from the other roads in the North Shed and still reverse via the other roads. The only thing is trains would not be able to come down from Stonebridge Park, any trains which had already left Stonebridge Park will have to run to Kilburn High Road and run North from there.

When I used to stay up that way I'd often (well maybe twice in 2 years) see empty stock Bakerloo trains arrive onthe southbound and reverse at Kilburn High Road towards Queens Park. Would a failure be the only reason I'd see one there?

There used to be a daily move, to Kilburn High Road, for route familiarision purposes and road training.Other than that it was only used in Train or signalling failure situations.

Just had a look at my pics and it appears they stable on all four roads. tunnelbana.fotopic.net/p11540269.html shows trains stabled on all four. However, they all outstable (taking it in turn) in the platforms every six weeks or so for litter picking and maintenance in the sheds. I don't think engineer's trains go north of Queens Park very often, I used to know a TransPlant driver who told me they don't have route knowledge north of there.

I remeber going into the south stable at Queens park after my cab ride on the bakerloo you see my sis had a freind who had a dad who is incharge of the signals on the bakerloo and i found it to be very small and clearly a bit old and musty in the drivers lockers.
One thing to note it feels a bit on edge when you standing a few inches away from the positive rail lol
But no i think there was only two or three in this end.
Well i was only 10 so but i rekon it was 2 or 3
Cheers James

I have a horrible feeling I know your sister's friend's dad, putting two and two together (and hopefully coming up with five) it sounds like my old signal manager...
The south shed normally holds four trains, and continued to do so on Wednesday and Thursday nights of this week when I was at Queen's Park.

Skillett? Yes, I used to work for Mr Skillett until about six months ago. Less said about that the better I think.

Tom in one of your night-time Bakerloo pics (pic 0084 - London Rd 01:04) is that a 72mk1 in the bottom corner? If so is it still there?

Yes it is a 72 Mk1 - the 'Garry Day' train (named after a former Track Manager). Last time I was at London Road it was still there and apparently not fit to travel anywhere by rail.

Is it performing Christmas duties then, or will it be scrapped or stripped to feed the Aldywch 72 and the TRV mkII?

Christmas Duties??
It's already been raided by the Train Techs for items which are compatible with 72 Mk2 units (and I had my eyes on the guards panels - taking them home by tube would have been fun), so I would guess it's next move will be on the back of a low-loader for scrap.

"Christmas Tree"? Isn't that what the resident unit getting stripped is called? It's already been raided by the Train Techs for items which are compatible with 72 Mk2 units (and I had my eyes on the guards panels - taking them home by tube would have been fun), so I would guess it's next move will be on the back of a low-loader for scrap. Fair enough. When is it likely to leave?

I wish I had vast amounts of money - I could save it myself. What a waste of train. I only just caught the last days for 72/59 working on the Northern and think it would be good for generations to come to see what real trains were like (not 92/95/96's). P.S When I say last days I mean about 3 - 4 years worth (Not long enough)

The Kilburn High Road move is still done. Well, timetabled at least. Currently on the Elephant duty that brings out the OOS train 252 from Stonebridge depot.
That old heap is still occupying 6rd... Not sure there'd be room for a 7 car unit there now anyway... they've built some kind of hut at the end of it!! They rolled the old unit forward about 30ft to build it.
