Why is there such a high negative pressurisation inside Maida Vale station? The high speed wind one is greeted with at the top of the escalators is sufficient to prop yourself up with!

I think it might have something to do with the positioning of the two exits. The worst gusts occur when two trains leave the station at the same time, the two sucking air down simultaneously. It is not a nice place to work as a CSA in the wintertime, believe me.
