Between Charing Cross and Piccadilly Circus on the northound around 22.30 on friday there was a smell of burning reported.
I was sent down to ride with the driver to use my hooter - drove at caution speed with the front door open and smelled somthing smokey though neither the op nor I could see anything or pinpoint the source.
By the time we got to Pic the old man halted service (necessitating my return to CHX via Leicester Sq) and arrived back at my home station to be confronted by about 300 LFB members.
Two hours the line was shut - and I lamped the last train out at about 00.55.
But neither plod nor barney mcgrew were forthcoming with any information.
Anyone know what the cause was?
