Looks like a cracked fishplate. brown stuff happens, the other side [of that rail] is probably not cracked.

Not long ago the Evening Standard were offering money to members of the public to get snaps like this. The piece of timber attached to the conductor rail springs to mind...

I wouldn't do that! I might send it to TfL to notify them. Even though it may not be dangerous, as a customer who knew nothing about the tube, I'd find that quite worrying!

Saw another one in the ES - Twin aspect signal, showing a yellow and a green.... it was a four aspect signal IIRC...

They showed a bus driver today, allegedly driving a bus while reading, I wonder if it was the substandard?

David can't you report it as a fault to the NCC instead? The Infracos run a very popular course on the basics of track engineering called the P-Way Classes. Its open to all LUL staff and one time the track managers tried to ban LU staff from it because loads more faults were being reported by station staff!

NCC? I'm not looking to cause any trouble, it just doesn't look to good does it?! They showed a bus driver today, allegedly driving a bus while reading, I wonder if it was the substandard? Bah, I've seen loads of them do it, especially in Oxford Street, but then again, you hardly call that driving! I think I'll go have a look round Queensway tomorrow, to see where cuts have been made ;D

Allegedly sums it up.
But we did get up to things a while ago. Imagine. Long hill. 1/2 mile. Dead straight. 1-in-5 up. Bus in 2nd Gear. 10mph max. Very quiet (wide) country road.
What would YOU do? I would use it to count my money, check duties or rosters, anything to relieve the boredom. Always elbows wedged on wheel so both hands could be used.

The road back to our garage was always slow moving at the end of the day. I would always be cashed up, waybill completed and ticket roll changed if needed by the time arrived at the garage.
Being fussy over such things, I always bagged up any excess change and always got rid of most of my copper coins as change to passengers - cashing up would never take me long. I would walk in the crew room, chuck my cash bag in the drop safe and I'd be getting washe dup long before those who arrived before me. Easy peasy!
