On doing some research into tube reversing points, as a result of the thread on Central reversing, I found on another forum that Totteridge & Whetstone Ground Frame is being quoted as a reversing point. I thought that his had been taken out of use: is this the case? I seem tho think I remember it being used many, many years ago when there was engineering work otherwise when I was intersted in the LU in the Seventies/Eighties it was an anachronism that remained extant. Rather like Woolston on the Fareham-Southampton line that was originally controled by a signal box on the Up end of the Down platform..the building is there but empty although used by a model society until recent times. Because of engineering work Woolston was used on 5 March ... a left-over but thank goodness it's there as apart from Netley it's the only #-over available between Fareham and say St Denys. Yes I know it's off -Forum topic but it illustrates the point!
Together with the Romsey-Totton via Easteigh, Southampton-Fareham is the nearest thing that Southampton has to a 'Metro' service. And bi-directional Southampton Tunnel using the old canal tunnel the nearest thing to a 'tube'!
