The duty books will look interesting with those MHE shuttles - Olympias will be like the London Marathon in comparison!!!

I can imagine drivers volunteering for the Mill Hill shuttle! ;D Wtt 49 has been in place for not long [26/9/04]
Lets hope the service will be more reliable.

If the MHE shuttle is double ended, it will give the rear driver a good chance to read a paper, watch a DVD etc etc.

I doubt it will be double ended. Watching a dvd? ? What a slur on the Northern line t/ops!!! ;D If it is to run at the rumoured 13.5min frequency, it might have to be double ended. 2x4min turnarounds, leaves just 5.5mins travelling time for both legs, and I doubt FC to MHE can be done in 2.25mins, or can it?

Unless they rip out the approach speed trainstop, no dear boy, going the other way, 2.25 minutes, maybe. How about a 3 minute turnaround?

Will it be run with a full 95ts train? If so, does it really need one?

Can't split a 95ts. Well, you can, into a 3 car, but then theres no security for the T/Op, operating the controls from under a seat, and even then, this mode can only be used for shunting...

maybe. How about a 3 minute turnaround? The unions might have something against a 3min turnaround.

It must be 2 trains running the shuttle. Even double ending, there's not much room for error.

FCL - MHE is single track, so I dunno how 2 trains will run the service. The spare canne sit in p2, cos that'll block up the HBT service...
This is going to be an interesting one...

(good old trusty line supp ) Been looking at the options in more detail. Here;s my thoughts. If they time it right though, they can time it so that as soon as one train is due to depart FYC, the other can arrive at the double track section (NQ10) and then reverse in the centre reversing (35)road. Even with wtt47 (when I was a guard) there would often be a train at FYC awaiting for us to leave the branch, so there won't be much change in that respect. Obviously this would entail detrainng at FYC though blocking the main line for the duration. The double ended option would be best operationally as platform 1 could be used as a dedicated shuttle platform, but people would have to cross the footbridge to continue their journey when continuing on to central london which won't please those coming off the branch.

If the line is closed for passenger service but with the juice on and no enginering, how fast could the trains go?

If the line is closed for passenger service but with the juice on and no enginering, how fast could the trains go? At normal Line speed for that section. I dont know much about the northern, but if the signalling uses RBJs as well as IBJs, in theory trains can pass through stations at NLS, as they do on the north end of the met.
