I have read elsewhere that the Northern Line was closed north of Colindale for two weeks in January 1994.
I am just wondering how service ran - was GG to Colindale done on a mainly shuttle basis or was there a reasonable through service?

Yes it was closed due to an embankment collapsing.
AFAIK a through service was in operation, though some services were obviously turned at Golders Green, due to only one reversing siding being in place at Colindale.
With the siding being used, a 6 minute interval between trains is provided.
