503pts in SMD have been converted back to a TPM 1 machine today (Saturday) I would be interested to learn about the differences between types of point machines. I am most familiar with the old 4-foot design.

must be sucessful as they are gonna install them on the district as they are no longer gonna install the 4ft low profile design any longer also south ken is gonna get the m63 type point machine for the extra power its got
personally i think the best set they had were the EBISWITCH (think i spent it right) they were swedish or from norway (cannot remember exactly) but could even crush a piece of ballast to nothing they worked in snow they were brilliant except one thing the first timber where all the mechanics was installed was metal and plus the motor what drove the machine was 3 phase sadly they never got installed and only had a test set (which i installed in 1996) at acton works behind one of the buildings was put in but 2 years later they were ripped up again

The EBISWITCH points still exist, they were just moved from Signal House to another location.

They were no more or less reliable than the TMP1's,but I think they are going to be fitted to the Jubilee as part of the upgrade for two reasons,1.no one makes air operated points these days so spares is an problem,2.TMP1's have a power supply issue(built to work on 240v)

Sorry to resurface this thread, but why have LU gone seemingly exclusively for Westinghouse's design of between track point machines, when other manufacturers such as Bombardier (who are part of the Metronet consortium) and Alstom also make between rail point machines?

remember westinghouse has got the contract to replace the signalling on metronet Which was interesting as Bombardier who also make signalling products gave them the contract. It doesn't explain Tubelines infraco use of Surelocks though.

There's only a limited number of approved point machines for new installations.
Currently they are only manufactured by Westinghouse.
