Does anyone know if this section can physically accomodate 8 cars of A stock fully berthed in each platform? And for that matter will Stanmore platform 3 be limited to tube stock like platform 1?
Many thanks

At stanmore, they have moved the stops closer to Canons Park, by about 1 car length. The platforms can comfortably accomodate existing 96ts without any problems...
So, based on that, I don't think an 8-car A60 would have a problem berthing in the platform; clearances under some bridges, past the platform edges may present problems tho...

Speaking of clearances wasn't there a D-stock on tour at Stanmore in the 1980s?

"Met A 60 at Greenford in 1964"
After delivery from the manufactuers to Ruislip Depot the line from Ruislip to North Acton was authorised for Trial Running of Amersham Stock and the line on to Ealing Broadway for a connection to the rest of the system. (The Ruislip extension from North Acton Junction was built to District stock guage)

Would be quite interesting to see an A stock tour before the end definatley by the time they finish they will probably be one of the longest serving surface stock they deserve a good send off

If clearance wasn't a problem, I'd probably do this route:
Upminster - Gloucester Road - High Street Kensington - Hammersmith - Acton Town - Rayners Lane - Uxbridge - Harrow - Watford - Chesham - Chalfont - Amersham - Wembley Park - Aldgate

So that's why the front of my 1963 Sundays only WTT for the Central has the note: 'For working of Amersham (A60) stock please see Mon - Fri TT'. I'd wondered on this, but never asked the question.
