JUBILEE LINE: Suspended due to a local power failure.
I assume this is a power cut in Neasden SCC

Why does Stratford station (both PAs and screens) say its because of a communication failure?
Or is it more of a power failure of the communications equipment?
I had fun getting from Beckton to Stratford. Trains to Stratford couldn't accept any more passengers at Poplar for some time when I got there (6:30).
Also the TfL site wasn't updated very well ad a friend checked for me on my way and 15mins after I was told on a DLR train the website still said the Jub was ok!

The power has gone off in the control room, including communications equipment. They have been unable to identify a number of stalled trains, and some have started self detraining! The Service Manager has been sent to the newsagents to buy a chocolate bar with a £50 note and get the change in 50pence pieces ;D

Nothing exciting like this ever happened when I was on the Jub ....... what is wrong with the back up control room... SMD tower?? They should be able to talk to the trains and take over !

It seems like I got off just in time, as it appeared to be working normally when I came though Stratford.

Unfortunately the ALCF radio at SMD is powered from Neasden, they asked us to take control and issue a code amber but it wouldn't work.As I write this still only a Finchley Rd-Stanmore shuttle no service in tunnel sections, but it appears that the main line radio is back up,would think service will be affected tomorrow morning due to stock out of position.

I have to drive in to work tomorrow for a totally unrelated reason. The Jubilee Line is one I often use as an alternative when things take on the shape of various fruits, so I'm glad I don't run that risk tomorrow.
The power cut in Neasden seems to have affected my partner's flat too.

There is nothing wrong with the forum time (well ok, it is a few minutes out ;D ;D) - some of you obviously didn't read the announcement I posted - to clarify, the forum clock has been updated manually and therefore shows the correct time (+/- 5 mins) when you view as a guest.........to get the correct time when you are signed in, you must modify your own profiles by changing the 'Currently Observing DST' option to yes.

Just got home on the Met (to Northwood) it's running fine-but H-on-the-Hill says there is no service btw Finchley Rd and Stratford! Damn! Was the power cut at Neasden why (thank god it) didn't it affect the Met?
I think its going to be a long night for many people......

I think its going to be a long night for many people...... Power failure at Neasden, then the train radio went down. A Finchley Road-Stanmore shuttle eventually happened, but the rest was closed for the rest of the day. Several hundred people had to be led through the tunnels. No reports of any injuries. Drivers were over hours and ended up in the wrong places as well as the trains. Trains reversed W-E at Waterloo [London Bridge crossover had a problem]. Trains were still going East up to 0300 en route back to SMD. I am thinking that due to this, the service might be running with delays on friday.

Last train arrived in SMD 03:57.SMD +4 on stock balance, at the mo service seems reasonable, may be problems late turn as some T/Op's didn't finish till gone 03:00 and may invoke the 12 hour break rule.

Happybunny, did you notice the picture they put with that report? Hmmmmmmmm. Using a Chancery Lane picture seems a little unfair! Why did communication totally break down? Why couldn't stations told that traction current was off/use tunnel telephone wires and then for staff to walk along the track to the trains. It looks like too many things went wrong at once and, again, the inevitable question has to asked: What would have happened if it was the hottest day of the year?...

Without knowing what systems werent working it is quite hard to comment. The Jubilee may well have touhscreen telephones that run off computer servers, so they may not have worked. This would also mean that they could not contact LUL Power Control to confirm that Traction Current was discharged. A few years back a Connect Installation contractor unplugged a telephone cable in an exchange at Baker Street, this knocked out thousands of phone lines and a number of lines had to suspend!

Hmmm on the BBC report they've added the DLR issues this morning. Seems placed to make it look like the transport systems worse than it is!

Apparently TT lines weren't working either it was a complete loss of all comms, also they couldn't discharge remotely Stratford-SMD sections WB or EB.

Hmmm on the BBC report they've added the DLR issues this morning. Seems placed to make it look like the transport systems worse than it is! Indeed - and the BBC's lead story on the subject contained a photo showing the Chancery Lane derailment train, dressed up as the recent Jubilee Line problem. I put in a complaint that this was misleading and painting yesterday's issue to be worse than it was, and interestingly the picture got changed PDQ! But this is what we have come to expect from a broadcasting corporation which is nowadays little better than the tabloids.

Got us (Mets) to stop at Wilesden Green, north and south.
This begs the question as to why are not air-wave radios kept at every single station in Zone-A? All it would take is 10 radios at each station just for these types of emergencies.
